Documentary photography with the Olympus EM-1
Back in April i was fortunate enough to witness the canonisation of Pope John Paul II & Pope John XXII with an estimated 500,00 Catholics who converged on St Peters Square, Rome. With thousands of pilgrims gathering at the Vatican and other parts of Rome it was the perfect opportunity to document the weekends celebration with the Olympus EM-1. The camera and lenses are so small and discreet its ideal for reportage photography and the auto focus is incredibly fast. People really don’t take you so seriously with such a small camera. For the trip i travelled light. One camera, a 12mm f2 to get up close and personal and the impressive 45mm 1.8 for something a little longer. The following images were all shot as LSF jpegs which the Em-1 excels at. The camera produces some of the finest jpegs iv’e ever seen from any camera. Post production was done in Lightroom 5.3 and converted to B/W in Photoshop CS6. Please feel free to leave any comments and thanks for looking.
