Grays Court Wedding, York – Fiona & Joe
This was my Grays Court Wedding, a beautiful venue dating back to 1080 and once owned by the Duke of Somerset, Queen Jane Seymour’s brother, and visited by King James I and James II For those of you that don’t know, Grays Court is situated in the heart of York within a stones throw of York Minster. It is one venue in York i had been keen on photographing there for some time with the hotel offering some great locations.
Fiona & Joe wanted their day to be relaxed and virtually free of posed images. As i love documenting weddings it offered me the opportunity to simply capture their day as it unfolded. With Joe, his family and many of the guest from Australia and various other parts of the world they were all just great fun, relaxed and up for anything. I started with Fiona and the girls at Greys Court in the bridal room with intermittent trips to the gardens to capture some of the guests as they arrived before the start of the ceremony. From then on, it was a simple case of capturing as many informal shots as the day progressed into the speeches and the evenings celebrations.
